Brand Spotlight
Futures
Futures Fins was founded in 1996 in Huntington Beach, California, and is now one of the world’s leading manufacturers of surfboard fins. The innovative single-tab system provides maximum stability, easy installation, and reliable performance. Futures is also gaining popularity across Europe, with more and more shapers and brands choosing the system for its direct power transfer, high strength, and long-lasting durability.
Just like adjusting a board to different conditions and wave types, every surfer should also tune their fins accordingly. Futures has developed its own Fin Guide to explain how to choose the right fins – based on their Ride Number, material, flex, foil, construction, and intended use. The Ride Number is a scale from 1 to 10 that indicates whether a fin is designed more for Speed Generating or Speed Control.
The closer the number is to 10, the more speed the fin generates – it feels springy, fluid, and responsive.
The closer the number is to 1, the more control the fin offers – solid, engaged, and predictable.
Right in the middle is Balanced – a mix of both.
The international team is made up of surfers who choose Futures because they fully trust the performance of the fin system and Futures technologies. Their personal choice to ride Futures has allowed the team to grow organically over the years – and today it’s become an impressively diverse crew of true rippers. Whether on the World Tour, as free surfers, or big wave chargers – Futures is proud of this team!
Futures’ goal is to continuously advance its technology and improve all products. Thanks to the latest simulation software, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been integrated into the product development process. With CFD, the water flow around the fins can be simulated directly on the computer – without the need to build physical prototypes.
